A Monumental Wood Lattice Overhead
At 183.5cm in diameter, the Dome 180 is the largest expression of one of Bover's most recognisable designs. It's built from more than 170 individually woven strips of beech, hand assembled into a vast lattice shade that reads more like a piece of architecture than a light fitting. Rather than shining directly, it lets light escape through the hundreds of small gaps in the weave.
The Largest Scale in the Dome Family
The Dome 180 shares the same hand woven beech construction as the smaller Dome 90, scaled up to over a metre tall and nearly two metres across. An iron and aluminium frame carries the full 50kg weight of the shade, and the natural wood finish shows the grain and joinery of each individual strip rather than hiding it under paint or lacquer.
How It Works
An integrated LED (75W, 8910 lumens, 2700K warm white, 82 CRI) sits above the structure and lights it from within, casting shifting shadow and glow across the ceiling, walls and floor below rather than throwing a direct beam. It works with a Triac dimmer, and the drop is adjustable from 2100mm to 5000mm on a 250mm ceiling plate, so it can be set for anything from a tall room to a genuine double height space. Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting is installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
Its scale suits grand entrance halls, double height atriums and statement staircases, anywhere the ceiling height and floor space can give it room to be seen properly. It works best as a single, deliberate focal point rather than one of several light sources in a room.
Made By Bover
Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996 by Joana Bover, and the brand still designs and produces its lighting in Spain, from its base in Cardedeu near Barcelona. Alongside hand woven synthetic fibre pieces for outdoor use, Bover is known for intricate wood lattice fixtures like the Dome family, each one built from well over a hundred individually woven beech strips. The company opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012 and has kept its Mediterranean design sensibility at the centre of its work throughout.

Questions People Ask
Can I change the bulb in the Dome 180?
No, the light source is an integrated LED rather than a replaceable bulb, so it's fitted for the life of the pendant.
How low can I hang the Dome 180?
The drop is adjustable between 2100mm and 5000mm, so it can be set for a tall room or a genuine double height space.
Is the Dome 180 too big for a standard room?
At 183.5cm across and over a metre tall, it's built for generous ceiling heights and open floor space, so it suits large halls and stairwells better than a standard sized room.
