A Woven Lantern, Built to Its Full Height
The Amphora 03 XL is the largest lamp in Bover's woven amphora range, standing 1370mm tall with an 890mm diameter body. Its rounded, faceted silhouette glows evenly from within rather than throwing a hard beam, so it reads as a sculptural object in daylight and a genuine focal point after dark.
Two Woven Finishes
The Amphora 03 XL comes in a light beige weave that reads soft and sandy in daylight, or a richer rattan brown that sits more naturally against planting and timber decking. Both use the same synthetic fibre weave over an aluminium and stainless steel frame, so the choice comes down to which tone suits the space around it.
How It Works
Inside the weave sits a UV resistant polyethylene globe that diffuses the light from two E27 LED bulbs, up to 15W each and not included, so the glow spreads evenly through the lantern rather than glaring from one point. The metal frame is coated with cataphoresis and epoxy polyester paint before the fibre is woven over it, and the whole fixture carries an IP66 rating, Class I electrics, and a 3 pin plug fitted as standard. At this height it works well as a standalone statement piece rather than needing to be grouped.
Where It Works Best
Its height and glow suit larger patios, terraces and garden beds where you want a genuine focal point rather than a small accent light, standing beside seating areas, anchoring a corner of decking, or lighting a path after dark.

Made By Bover
Bover began in Barcelona in 1996, when founder Joana Bover sketched a lamp for an architect friend's project. The company still designs and produces its lighting in Spain, working from Cardedeu near Barcelona, with a Mediterranean sensibility that spans hand woven outdoor pieces like the Amphora through to intricate wood lattice indoor fixtures such as the Dome family. Bover opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012.
