A Larger Take on the Woven Lantern

The Amphora 02 is the larger sibling in Bover's Amphora lantern range, standing 1230mm tall on an 800mm diameter base, well over half a metre taller than the Amphora 01. That extra scale turns it into a genuine piece of garden architecture rather than an accent light. The same rounded, faceted silhouette glows softly from within, spreading light across a wide area instead of throwing a hard beam.

Two Woven Finishes

The Amphora 02 comes in two hand woven finishes. Light Beige gives it a bright, sandy look that suits coastal and Mediterranean style planting. Rattan Brown is the deeper, more natural tone, one that settles into borders, gravel and timber decking rather than standing out from them. Both use the same synthetic fibre weave over an aluminium and stainless steel frame, so the decision comes down to which tone suits the setting.

How It Works

Inside the weave sits a UV resistant polyethylene globe that diffuses two LED E27 bulbs, up to 15W each and not included, so the light spreads evenly through the lantern rather than glaring from one point. The metal frame is coated with cataphoresis and epoxy polyester paint before the fibre is woven over it. It carries an IP66 rating, Class I electrics, and comes fitted with a 3 pin plug as standard.

Where It Works Best

Its scale suits larger patios, poolsides and entranceways, anywhere a single lit piece needs to hold its own rather than blend into a group. It works well standing alone by a doorway or terrace edge, or spaced out along a longer run of decking where its glow can carry across the space.

Made By Bover

Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996 by Joana Bover, growing out of a sketch she drew for an architect friend's project. The brand still designs and produces its lighting in Spain, headquartered in Cardedeu near Barcelona, with a Mediterranean sensibility that spans intricately woven outdoor pieces like the Amphora through to wood lattice indoor fixtures such as the Dome family. Bover opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012.
