The Utopia Twist Linear Pendant is a linear ceiling light built around a chrome frame with sections of clear glass, designed to spread a run of light along a table or island rather than a single circle of it. At around 95cm in length, it suits spaces where you want the light to follow the shape of the room, such as over a long dining table or a kitchen island, and its 25cm width keeps the fitting fairly slimline.

This version pairs a chrome plated frame with clear glass, a combination that reads as understated rather than showy and reflects the light around it as much as it emits it. Chrome plate wipes clean easily and tends to sit well alongside other chrome fittings in the same room, whether that's taps, handles, or further light fittings. The clear glass sections let the LED light source show through, so the pendant works as a visible design feature as well as a source of light, and it's built from a mix of steel, aluminium alloy, and glass.

How this LED pendant light works

Inside the fitting is a 47W integrated LED module producing 1950 lumens of warm white light at 3000K, so there's no separate bulb to buy or replace, the LED is built into the fitting itself. It's wired to Class II (double insulated) standard, and it can be dimmed, though only when paired with a trailing edge dimmer switch, so it's worth checking compatibility before you commit to dimming. The pendant comes with 150cm of cable and an adjustable drop of 35cm up to 165cm, giving some flexibility over how low it hangs. As with any mains wired ceiling light, we'd recommend having it installed by a registered NICEIC electrician. It weighs around 3.5kg, so it's worth checking your ceiling fixing point can comfortably take that weight before fitting it.

Thanks to its linear shape, this pendant suits dining tables and kitchen islands particularly well, where a run of light suits a run of surface better than a single central point would.
