Utopia Twist Large Pendant Chandelier - Gold And Clear Glass - 70cm Diameter

The Utopia Twist is a large pendant chandelier built around a circular, hoop like frame, with slender rods of clear glass twisted through it rather than sitting flat against the metalwork. The frame is finished in gold, so light plays across both the glass and the gold as it passes through. At 70cm in diameter it has real presence overhead, and with a drop that adjusts from around 30cm to 120cm, it can be hung to suit different ceiling heights and different spaces.

This particular version is finished in gold with clear glass. The glass rods are twisted rather than straight, which is part of what gives this design its character, and being finished by hand means you can expect gentle variation from one rod to the next rather than perfect uniformity. The frame itself is made from steel and aluminium alloy alongside the glass, giving it enough substance to hold its shape as a ceiling centrepiece without feeling overly heavy.

How it works

Light comes from a 56W integrated LED module built into the fitting, giving out around 2750 lumens in a warm white 3000K colour temperature. Because the LED is integrated, there is no separate bulb to buy or replace over time. The pendant can be dimmed, but only when paired with a trailing edge dimmer switch, so it is worth checking compatibility before you commit to dimming this one. It is mains wired and rated Class II, and as with any hardwired fitting we would recommend having it installed by a registered NICEIC electrician. At roughly 3.6kg, it is also worth checking that your ceiling fixing point can comfortably take the weight before it goes up.

Where it works best

With an IP20 rating, this chandelier is designed for dry indoor rooms rather than bathrooms or anywhere damp. It suits living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens and hallways well, and the adjustable drop makes it a natural fit above a dining table or kitchen island, where hanging it a little lower can help focus the light where you actually need it.
