Utopia Sphere 6 Light Semi-Flush Fitting - Matt Black & Smoked Mirror Glass

The Utopia Sphere is a six light semi flush ceiling fitting built around a rounded cluster of arms, each one finished in matt black and topped with a smoked mirror glass shade. The overall shape reads as a single sculptural sphere rather than six separate lights, which gives it a distinctive presence without ever feeling fussy or overdone. It sits close to the ceiling, making it a good option where a full pendant drop isn't practical but you still want something with real visual weight.

The frame is finished in matt black steel, a flat, low sheen finish that reads as modern without catching too much glare. Each arm carries a smoked mirror glass shade, tinted and gently reflective rather than clear, so the bulbs are softened and diffused instead of sitting on show. The combination of dark metal and smoked glass tends to work well against lighter walls, pale ceilings or warm wood tones, where it can stand out as a focal point rather than disappearing into the scheme.

Six light semi flush ceiling fitting: how it works

This fitting takes six E14 golf bulbs, each rated at 7W, and bulbs are not supplied so you'll need to add your own. It's dimmable, but only if you fit dimmable bulbs, so check compatibility when you choose them. Electrically it's Class II, meaning it's double insulated and doesn't rely on an earth connection. The drop is adjustable from around 100cm to 127cm, giving some flexibility over how close to the ceiling it sits. As with any mains wired ceiling light, it should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician. At roughly 4kg, it's also worth having your ceiling fixing point checked beforehand to make sure it can safely take the weight.

Where this ceiling light works best

With an IP20 rating, this fitting is designed for dry indoor rooms only, so it isn't suitable for bathrooms or other damp spaces. It suits living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways, and its semi flush profile makes it a natural fit above a kitchen island or dining table where headroom is limited, as well as a striking addition to a hallway or living space ceiling.
