The Utopia Sphere 5 Light Linear Pendant brings together five spherical shades along a single horizontal bar, making it a natural fit for spaces where you want a run of light rather than a single central point. The matt black frame keeps the silhouette understated, while the row of glass spheres gives it enough presence to work as a real feature over a table or island.
This finish: matt black and smoked mirror glass
This version pairs a matt black steel frame with smoked mirror glass shades, so the spheres read as dark, reflective globes rather than clear bulbs on show. The glass has a mirrored, smoked quality that softens the light rather than glaring, and the black finish keeps the fitting from competing with a busy ceiling or feature wall. As with any glass shade, expect very slight variation from one sphere to the next, which is simply part of working with glass rather than a fault.
How this pendant light works
The fitting takes 5 x 7W E14 golf bulbs, which are not supplied, so you can choose the warmth and dimmability you prefer. It is dimmable, provided you fit dimmable bulbs and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch. Electrically it is rated Class II. The pendant is wired for permanent connection to your mains supply, so it should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician rather than fitted as a plug in light. At 3.6kg it is worth checking that your ceiling fixing point can safely take the weight before installation, particularly on plasterboard.
Where this linear pendant works best
Because it spreads light along a line instead of a single drop, it suits kitchen islands and dining tables particularly well, anywhere you want even illumination across a surface rather than one bright spot. It also works comfortably in living rooms, bedrooms and hallways where a longer run of light is useful, such as above a console table or a run of units. The IP20 rating means it is designed for dry indoor rooms only, so it is not intended for bathrooms or anywhere exposed to damp or splashing.
