A linear pendant for tables and kitchen islands
The Utopia Sphere is a five light linear pendant designed to hang along the length of a table or kitchen island rather than as a single central point. Rounded sphere style shades are set along a slim steel bar, giving a rhythm of light rather than one bright spot, and the antique brass finish adds a warm, slightly aged glint to the metalwork.
The antique brass finish
This version is finished in antique brass, a deeper, more muted gold tone than a polished brass, paired here with opal glass shades that soften and diffuse the light. Because the finish is applied by hand, expect small, natural variations in tone from one fitting to the next, which is part of what gives it a made rather than moulded look. The steel and glass construction pairs well with warm wood tables, marble worktops and other brass or aged metal hardware in the room.
How it works
The pendant takes five E14 bulbs, each rated up to 7W, and bulbs are not supplied so you can choose the warmth and brightness that suits the room. It is dimmable, provided you fit dimmable bulbs and pair them with a compatible dimmer switch. The fitting spans 162cm in length, with a depth of 44.5cm and an adjustable drop of between 83.5cm and 93.5cm so you can set the hanging height to suit your ceiling and table. At around 3.8kg, it is worth checking that your ceiling fixing point can comfortably take the weight before installing. As with any mains wired pendant, we recommend having it fitted by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where it works best
Its length makes it a natural fit above a dining table or kitchen island, though it also suits a long console or sideboard in a living room, hallway or bedroom where you want a run of light rather than a single pendant. This is an indoor fitting intended for dry rooms.
