The Utopia Planet is a semi flush ceiling light built around three softly rounded, opal glass shades, each one pebble shaped and gently textured so light spreads out as a warm, diffused glow rather than a sharp point. Sitting close to the ceiling, it suits rooms where headroom is limited but you still want something with real presence overhead, such as a kitchen island or a dining table.
The gold finish
This version pairs a gold toned steel frame with the same opal glass shades, giving the fitting a soft, warm sheen rather than a harsh, mirror bright shine. The steel arms hold each glass shade at a slightly different angle, so the piece reads as sculptural rather than perfectly symmetrical, and small variations in the glass are part of its handmade character.
How the Utopia Planet works
It takes three G9 LED bulbs, rated at 3W each, which are not supplied so you can choose the tone and brightness that suits the room. The fitting is dimmable, provided you fit dimmable G9 bulbs and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch. As with any mains wired ceiling light, we recommend having it installed by a registered NICEIC electrician to make sure the wiring and fixing are done safely.
Where it works best
With an IP20 rating, the Utopia Planet is designed for dry indoor rooms only, so it is not suitable for bathrooms or other spaces with direct moisture exposure. It works well in living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways, and its low profile makes it a natural fit above a kitchen island or in a hallway with a lower ceiling.
