The Matrix 4 Light Semi Flush brings a run of sculptural glass tubes together on a single ceiling plate, each one capped in metalwork so the whole fitting reads as one connected piece rather than a cluster of separate shades. It sits close to the ceiling, so it works well in rooms where a pendant would hang too low, while still giving you the visual interest of a multi light design.

Satin brass and glass finish

This version pairs a satin brass plate with four tubes of clear and frosted glass. The glass is a mix of textures rather than a single flat finish, which softens the light and adds a bit of depth when the fitting is lit. Brass tones like this tend to sit comfortably with warm woods, brushed metal furniture and darker paint colours, and they age gently rather than needing to look brand new to look right.

How this semi flush ceiling light works

It takes four G9 bulbs at 3W each, and bulbs are not supplied so you can choose the colour temperature and brightness that suits the room. The fitting is dimmable, but only if you fit dimmable bulbs and pair them with a compatible dimmer switch, so check compatibility before you buy your bulbs. It is Class II rated and finished in steel and glass, with a diameter of 55cm and a projection of 14.4cm once mounted. It carries an IP20 rating, which means it is designed for dry indoor rooms rather than bathrooms or anywhere it might get splashed. As with any mains wired light, installation should be carried out by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Its low profile and spread of light make it a good fit for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways, particularly where ceiling height is limited or where you want a central light that still feels a little more considered than a standard flush fitting.
