The Utopia Matrix 13 Light Pendant gathers thirteen individual lights into a single, sculptural fitting, arranged across a satin brass plate so the whole piece reads as one considered composition rather than a cluster of separate lamps. Clear and frosted glass shades sit alongside one another, giving the fixture a layered look that changes character depending on how the light catches each surface.

The plate is finished in satin brass, a warm, low sheen tone that sits comfortably alongside both traditional and more contemporary schemes. As with any hand applied metal finish, expect a little gentle variation piece to piece, part of what gives it a made, rather than moulded, feel. The mix of clear and frosted glass across the thirteen lights softens the overall glow while still letting the brass detailing show through, so the fitting works as a feature in its own right rather than simply a light source.

How it works: bulbs, wiring and installation

Each of the thirteen lights takes a 3W G9 SMD bulb, and bulbs are not supplied, so you will need to source these separately before fitting. The pendant is dimmable, provided dimmable bulbs are fitted and paired with a compatible dimmer switch. It is wired to Class II electrical standards. As with any mains wired ceiling fitting, we recommend installation is carried out by a registered NICEIC electrician. The fitting weighs around 5kg, so it is worth checking that your ceiling fixing point is suitable to take the weight before you hang it. The drop is adjustable between roughly 47.5cm and 109cm, giving you some flexibility over the finished hanging height, and the fitting spans approximately 89.3cm across at its widest point.

Where it works best: kitchens, dining and living spaces

With its wide span and multiple light sources, this pendant is particularly suited to spaces where one fitting needs to do a lot of visual work, over a kitchen island, above a dining table, or as a central feature in a living room, bedroom or hallway. Because the individual lights sit close together rather than spread across a room, it tends to work best as a single statement point rather than one of several fittings in the same space. Note that this fitting carries an IP20 rating, so it is intended for dry indoor rooms rather than areas exposed to moisture or splashing.
