Utopia Matrix 13 Light Linear Pendant - Satin Brass Plate with Clear & Frosted Glass

A run of thirteen glass tubes set along a single straight bar, this linear pendant is built for spaces that call for something a little more sculptural than a single central light. The tubes alternate between clear and frosted glass, so the fitting reads as a considered pattern rather than a repeated shape, and the satin brass fittings at each end give it a warm, understated finish.

The body is steel and glass, finished with a satin brass plate that sits somewhere between matte and polished, so it catches light without being showy. Because the glass is finished by hand, expect gentle variation from tube to tube rather than perfect uniformity, which is part of what gives the piece its character. The warm brass tone pairs easily with timber worktops, brushed metal handles and darker paint schemes, and works equally well as a statement above a run of units or as a quieter addition to an already busy room.

How it works: bulbs, fitting and installation

It takes 13 x 3W G9 SMD bulbs, which are not supplied, so you'll need to source these separately before fitting. The pendant is dimmable, provided dimmable bulbs are fitted, so it can flex between a bright task light and something softer in the evening. It runs Class II electrically. The bar itself measures 118cm in length and 42.6cm in depth, with an adjustable drop of between 56.5cm and 103cm, giving some flexibility over how low it hangs. At around 4.5kg, it's worth checking that your ceiling fixing point can comfortably take the weight before installation. As with any mains wired fitting, we'd recommend having it installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where it works best

Its long, low profile suits rooms where you need light spread along a line rather than pooled in one spot, think a kitchen island, a run of dining table, or a console in a hallway. It also works comfortably in living rooms and bedrooms where a horizontal fitting can sit above a sideboard or bed without overwhelming the space.
