It takes a single 10W LED bulb with an E27 fitting; the bulb itself is not included, so you can choose the brightness that suits the room. The lamp is built to Class II, double insulated standard, and it is not compatible with dimmer switches, so it runs as a straightforward on and off fitting. As a free standing, plug in floor lamp, setting it up is simple: attach the stem to the base and fit the glass shade as described in the box, then place it near a wall socket. It's still worth having any household wiring or sockets checked over by a registered NICEIC electrician if you're ever in doubt about the circuit you're plugging into.
