An 80cm Linear Pendant With Up and Down Light
The Tooy Pilar & Viga horizontal 80cm pendant light is the beam of the collection, designed by Marco Casamonti of Studio Archea. It is a clean, straight bar of light and a good-sized linear pendant, so it measures approximately 80cm long, 15cm wide and 16cm high, hung from a 150cm cable. It gives light both up and down, which makes it a neat black or bronze looking pendant for a dining table, desk or kitchen counter.
Beige or Bronzed Steel
Bronzed Steel is the deeper choice, a warm dark metal that works like a modern bronze pendant light over wood or stone. Beige is lighter and quieter, and it lets the straight line of the bar sit gently against walls and ceilings. The cable is beige leather in both cases.
How it works
A 65W integrated LED at 2700K is built in and gives around 3650 lumens of warm white light. No bulbs are needed. It is dimmable with DALI 2 and push control, so it needs a compatible dimming setup. The pendant hangs from a ceiling canopy of 8cm by 30cm with a bracket, on a 150cm cable. At around 10kg the ceiling fixing should be checked by the installer. A qualified electrician should always install this fitting.
Where it works best
A bar this length sits well above a dining table for four to six, a breakfast bar or a console in a hall. Hang two end to end for a longer table. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry indoor rooms only.
The story behind Tooy
Tooy was founded in 2015 by Valeria Giacomozzi and Valerio Tidei in Italy's Marche region. It began as a spin off from Gibas, the Giacomozzi family lighting company that has made tailor made lighting in Marche since 1959. Corrado Dotti has been creative director since 2017, and the brand's lamps are made in Italy. The Structure collection comes from architect Marco Casamonti of Studio Archea.
