A 1.6 Metre Linear Pendant for Long Tables
The Tooy Pilar & Viga horizontal 160cm pendant light is the beam of the Structure collection at statement scale, designed by Marco Casamonti of Studio Archea. It is also a genuinely large fitting: it measures approximately 160cm long, 15cm wide and 16cm high, hung from a 150cm cable. It is a long linear pendant for dining tables, kitchen islands and open plan rooms, giving a clean line of light above and below.
Two Finishes to Choose From
Bronzed Steel gives the long bar a warm, dark metallic line, and it looks at home over walnut, oak and dark stone. Beige is calmer and lighter, and it lets a piece this long stay quiet in a pale room. Both come with a beige leather cable.
How it works
A 125W integrated LED at 2700K is built in and gives around 7250 lumens of warm white light, so there are no bulbs to buy. It is dimmable with DALI 2 and push control, which needs a compatible dimming setup. The pendant hangs from a ceiling canopy of 7cm by 53cm with a bracket, on a 150cm cable. At around 20kg it is a heavy fitting, so the ceiling fixing should be checked by the installer. A qualified electrician should always install this fitting.
Where it works best
At 160cm this linear pendant is made for a dining table that seats six to eight, a long kitchen island or a wide open plan living area. It needs a ceiling and room that can carry its length. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry indoor rooms only.
The story behind Tooy
Tooy began in 2015, when Valeria Giacomozzi and Valerio Tidei launched it in Italy's Marche region as a spin off from Gibas. Gibas is the Giacomozzi family lighting company, which has made tailor made lighting in Marche since 1959. Since 2017 Corrado Dotti has been creative director, and Tooy lamps are made in Italy. Marco Casamonti, an architect and professor who leads Archea Associati, designed the Structure collection.
