Not every room calls for a pendant, and not every moment of light needs to come from above. The Filipa table lamp by Corrado Dotti for Tooy brings the collection's signature double sphere of borosilicate glass down to surface level, placing the warmth and luminosity of the Filipa form exactly where it is most intimate — beside a bed, on a sideboard, at the end of a sofa, or on a desk where the quality of the light matters as much as its position.
At this scale the borosilicate glass has a particular presence. You are closer to it, more aware of the way the light moves through it, more conscious of the optical depth the material creates. Borosilicate glass is not simply clear — it has a slight weight and density that gives the light source within it a warmth and richness that ordinary glass cannot replicate. Combined with the sand black metal base and the choice of sand grey or two tone leather detailing, the result is a table lamp that rewards close attention.
The two tone leather variant deserves particular mention. Leather is a material that ages and develops character in a way that no painted or powder coated surface can — it acquires warmth and patina with use, becoming more itself over time.
