A Round Glass Table Lamp with a Leather Band
The Tooy Bolina Table Lamp is designed by Fabio Fantolino, who took his cue from the world of sailing. A soft round glass body is held by a slim leather band, a shape that recalls a life preserver. It is about 35cm across and 17cm high, so it is a low, wide bedside table lamp or sideboard lamp that gives a pool of warm light.
Two Colour Pairings
Choose Caramel nabuk leather with amber glass for a golden, cosy light and a deeper, richer tone by day. Or choose Light Beige nabuk leather with satin white glass for a gentler, creamier look that suits pale rooms. Both sit on a dark bronze base, which grounds the glass.
How it works
The light source is built in, a 19W LED at 3000K giving about 3900 lumens, so there are no bulbs to buy. It comes with a dimmer on the cable and a 150cm cable. A qualified electrician should always install this fitting.
Where it works best
Place it on a console, a sideboard, a wide bedside table or a desk where a low lamp suits the scene. It lights a room softly rather than for close reading. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry indoor rooms only.
The story behind Tooy
Italian lighting brand Tooy was founded in 2015 by Valeria Giacomozzi and Valerio Tidei, in the Marche region. It started as a spin off from Gibas, the Giacomozzi family company that has made tailor made lighting in Marche since 1959. Corrado Dotti has been creative director since 2017, and Tooy lamps are made in Italy.
