A candle holder reimagined as wall light

The Bugia 1 Light Wall Light takes its name and its looped handle from the traditional Italian bugia, the candle holder once carried from room to room before electric light existed. Designed by Roberto Beretta and Antonio Macchi Cassia, it translates that nostalgic silhouette into a single arm wall fitting built from iron and glass, taking one 4.5W E27 LED bulb and rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

Mint green glass

In mint green, the glass diffuser takes on a soft, slightly translucent quality that catches the light gently when switched on and reads as a quiet, considered object when it isn't. It's a softer, more nostalgic colourway than the black or white versions in the range, without tipping into twee.

How it works

This fitting is switched rather than dimmable, so it gives one consistent level of light whenever it's on. It takes a single 4.5W E27 LED bulb, which isn't included, so add one to your order. As with all our wall lights, we'd recommend having it fitted by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where it works best

It suits a living room, bedroom, dining room or hallway, either on its own or repeated along a run of wall for a more rhythmic effect. Being IP20 rated, it isn't suitable for bathrooms.

The story behind Stilnovo

Stilnovo has been shaping Italian lighting since Bruno Gatta founded the company in Milan in 1946, treating each fitting as a small piece of architecture rather than a simple manufactured object. Following the brand's 2019 revival under Linea Light Group, historic designs like Bugia continue to be produced with that same care.
