A Solar Sensor Light With No Wiring to the House
The Steinel XSolar L-S in silver is a solar powered outdoor LED security light with a built in motion sensor. A solar panel on top charges its battery during the day, so there are no energy costs and no mains cable to run. It gives 150 lumens at 3000K warm white, and the sensor covers 140 degrees. That makes it a simple outdoor sensor light for a garden wall, patio or front door.
Silver Finish with an Angled Solar Panel
The body is finished in silver with a clear plastic cover over the LEDs, and the dark solar panel sits above it, angled to catch the daylight. A small compass is built into the bracket to help you point the panel towards the sun when you fit it.
How It Works
Solar energy is stored in a 2500 mAh lithium iron phosphate rechargeable battery, which Steinel says gives about 60 days of light reserve. A passive infrared sensor detects movement across 140 degrees, with a reach of 8 metres. You set how long the light stays on, from 10 to 30 seconds, and the twilight level, down to 2 lux, using the dials on the unit. The maximum mounting height is 2 metres. The light source is an integrated Steinel LED at 1.2W, with a CRI of 80 to 89. It is a Class III product, rated IP44 and IK03. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this product.
Where It Works Best
Steinel suggests it for the front door, a courtyard, a driveway, a terrace or balcony, and all round the building. It is designed for wall mounting, and it suits places where running a cable would be awkward, such as a garden wall, shed or garage. The panel needs a spot that gets reasonable daylight to charge well. Steinel states it lights up to 30 square metres.
