A Black Outdoor Floodlight for Wide Area Lighting

The Steinel XLED Home 2 in black is a wall mounted outdoor LED floodlight with no sensor. It lights when you switch it on, so it suits an outdoor security light or garden floodlight that you control yourself. It gives 1550 lumens from 13.7W at 3000K warm white, spread across a wide area by an opal cover over the LED panel. Steinel also makes a version of this floodlight with a built in motion sensor, so check you are choosing the one you want.

Black Finish with a Swivelling Panel

The housing is black, with a flat opal cover that softens the light and hides the LEDs. The panel swivels freely on its bracket, 180 degrees horizontally and 180 degrees vertically, so you can aim the light at a drive, wall or path. The back of the panel is ribbed and carries the Steinel name. These fins are part of the cooling system, which uses a magnesium composite Steinel calls HCMC to draw heat away from the LEDs.

How It Works

This version has no motion sensor and no twilight switch, so it is controlled by whatever switch it is wired to. The LED is an integrated Steinel system, rated for up to 50,000 hours, and it is not replaceable. Light colour is 3000K warm white with a CRI of 80 to 89. It runs from a 220 to 240V mains supply and is a Class II fitting, rated IP44 against splashing water from any direction. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where It Works Best

Steinel suggests it for all round the building: a courtyard, driveway, terrace or balcony. It fits on a wall or corner with surface wiring, which makes it a good choice where you want steady, switched lighting rather than light that comes on with movement.

Does this XLED Home 2 have a motion sensor? No. This version has no sensor, so it switches on and off with the wall switch or control it is wired to. Steinel makes a separate sensor version.
