An Up and Down Sensor Wall Light with a 12 Metre Reach
The Steinel L 930 S is an outdoor LED wall light that throws light both up and down the wall, and switches on by itself when it detects movement. It gives 457 lumens from 9.3W at 3000K warm white, and its 140 degree sensor reaches 12 metres. That makes it a neat outdoor security light for a front door, patio doors or the side of the house, with the up and down glow washing the wall around it.
Anthracite Aluminium Housing
This version has a dark grey anthracite body made from aluminium, with opal plastic diffusers at the top and bottom where the light comes out. The sensor window sits low on the front face and the Steinel logo is on the lower edge. It is a compact, squared off fitting, so it suits modern exteriors and sits well beside dark window and door frames.
How It Works
A passive infrared sensor detects movement across 140 degrees and switches the light on. Settings are made with a bank of DIP switches under a small cover on the front, so there is no need for a separate controller. You can choose an on time of 2 or 15 minutes, a twilight level of 2 or 20 lux, and a sensor range, and there is a test setting for checking coverage. The light has a soft light start function, and a basic light setting that Steinel lists as available for all night or half the night. A manual override gives continuous light for up to 4 hours. The sensor works best at a mounting height of 1.8 to 2.5 metres, with 2.2 metres ideal. Up to 10 lights can be linked together by cable so they switch on as a group. The LED is an integrated Steinel system, and the light runs from a 220 to 240V, 50 to 60Hz mains supply. It is a Class I fitting, so it needs an earth connection. Where It Works Best
Steinel suggests it for the front door, all round the building and for a terrace, balcony or garden wall. It is surface wired and wall mounted, and rated IP44, so it is protected against splashing water from any direction. Two or more lights linked together work well along the length of a house or around a patio.
