A Sensor Wall Light with Bluetooth Control
The Steinel L 800 SC in anthracite is a compact outdoor LED wall light with a built in motion sensor and Bluetooth control. It works as an LED security light for a front door or building entrance, giving 466 lumens from 7.5W at 3000K warm white. The sensor covers 160 degrees with a reach of 1 to 5 metres, and it can be controlled from the free Steinel app.
Anthracite Aluminium with an Opal Diffuser
The housing is a dark anthracite grey aluminium with a fine textured finish, with an opal diffuser underneath that spreads the light softly downwards. A curved bracket below the body holds the sensor, so there is no visible sensor lens on the front. The silver version of this light has a lighter grey finish, while this one suits dark render, slate and timber cladding.
How It Works
Instead of a standard infrared lens, the L 800 SC uses Steinel's intelligent high frequency (iHF) sensor, which Steinel describes as invisible. It detects movement within 160 degrees and a reach of up to 5 metres, and the detection zone can be adjusted on two axes. The light fades up with a soft start rather than flashing on. The on time can be set from 5 seconds to 60 minutes and the twilight level from 2 to 2000 lux, and there is an optional manual override that keeps the light on for 4 hours. The sensor works best at a mounting height of 1.8 to 2.5 metres, with 2 metres ideal. Several Steinel Bluetooth lights can be linked wirelessly so they switch together. It runs from a 220 to 240V mains supply and is a Class II fitting. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.
