Steinel L 605 S Anthracite - Sensor-Switched LED Outdoor Light

A Slim Sensor Wall Light for Doors and Paths

The Steinel L 605 S in anthracite is an outdoor LED wall light with a built in motion sensor. It lights up when it detects movement at dusk or in the dark, then switches off again after a time you set. It gives 729 lumens at 3000K warm white from 11.3W, and the sensor covers 180 degrees with a reach of 10 metres. It works as a LED security light and a neat porch light in one.

Anthracite Aluminium with an Opal Glass Tube

The wall bracket and sensor housing are finished in a dark anthracite grey, with a narrow sensor window set into the front. Above it sits a tall cylinder of opal glass that spreads the light softly and evenly. The base is aluminium, and the shape is slim enough to sit beside a front door without dominating the wall.

How It Works

A passive infrared sensor picks up movement and switches the light on. The on time can be set from 5 seconds to 15 minutes, and the twilight level from 10 to 2000 lux, so it only comes on when it is dark enough. The sensor has a close range setting and a full reach of 10 metres. Steinel gives a mounting height of 1.8 to 2 metres, with 2 metres ideal. Four sensor programmes are available, including a continuous light mode, a night light mode and a soft light start. The LED is an integrated Steinel system with a CRI of 82. It runs from a 220 to 240V mains supply and is a Class I fitting. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where It Works Best

Steinel suggests it for the front door, a terrace or balcony, and all round the building. It mounts on a wall with surface wiring. It is rated IP44, so it is protected against splashing water from any direction, and IK03 for impact protection.
