A Sensor Wall Light for Entrances and Building Fronts
The Steinel L 22 in anthracite is an outdoor wall light with a built in motion sensor. It switches on when someone approaches and off again after a time you set, which makes it a practical security light for a front door, driveway or courtyard. The sensor covers 180 degrees with a reach of up to 10 metres, and the light takes a lamp of up to 60W with an E27 cap (bulb not included).
Anthracite Finish with a Stainless Steel Trim
The L 22 has a gently curved, tall opal diffuser set in an anthracite stainless steel trim, with the sensor head tucked in below. The trim is brushed stainless steel, so it keeps a quiet, metallic look on a render, brick or timber wall. The sensor head tilts through 90 degrees, and the fitting has an IK07 impact rating, so it copes with the odd knock.
How It Works
A passive infrared sensor detects movement and switches the light on. You set how long it stays on, from 8 seconds up to 35 minutes, and the twilight level it responds to, from 2 to 2000 lux, using the dials on the unit. Steinel quotes a reach of 10 metres across the sensor and 3 metres when approaching it head on. The sensor works best at a mounting height of 1.8 to 3 metres, with 2 metres ideal. It runs from a 220 to 240V mains supply, takes a lamp of up to 60W with an E27 cap, and is a Class II fitting. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.
Where It Works Best
Steinel suggests it for all round the building: the front door, a terrace or balcony, a courtyard and a driveway. It fits on a wall with surface wiring and is rated IP44, so it is protected against splashing water from any direction.
