A Square Outdoor Wall Light with a Built In Sensor
The Steinel L 20 is a square outdoor wall light with a built in motion sensor, so it switches on when someone approaches and off again after a time you choose. The sensor covers 180 degrees with a reach of up to 10 metres, which makes it a practical LED ready security light for a front door, building front, terrace or courtyard. It takes a standard E27 lamp of up to 60W, so you choose the bulb.
Silver Stainless Steel Trim
This version has a brushed stainless steel trim panel in a silver finish, framing a curved opal white diffuser. The sensor head sits below the panel and tilts through 90 degrees, so you can fine tune the area it watches. The stainless steel gives it a clean, architectural look against render, brick or cladding.
How It Works
A passive infrared sensor detects movement and switches the light on. You set how long it stays on, from 8 seconds up to 35 minutes, and the twilight level it responds to, from 2 to 2000 lux, using the potentiometer dials on the unit. The recommended mounting height is 1.8 to 3 metres, with 2 metres ideal. The lamp is not included and needs an E27 fitting, up to 60W. It runs from a 230 to 240V, 50Hz mains supply and is a Class II fitting, rated IP44 and IK07. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.
Where It Works Best
Steinel suggests it for the front door, all round the building, a terrace or balcony, a courtyard and a driveway. It is wall mounted with surface wiring. IP44 means it is protected against splashing water from any direction, so it is suited to exposed outdoor walls.
