A Slatted Sensor Wall Light for Entrances
The Steinel L 12 in anthracite is a wall mounted outdoor sensor light with a built in motion detector. It switches on when someone approaches and off again after a time you choose. The sensor covers 180 degrees with a reach of up to 10 metres, which makes it a practical outdoor security light for a front door, side passage or courtyard. It takes a standard E27 lamp, up to 60W.
Anthracite Aluminium with Opal Panels
The body is aluminium in a dark anthracite finish, curved around the light with five horizontal slots. Opal plastic diffusers sit behind the slots and give a soft, even glow rather than a bare lamp. The white sensor head sits at the bottom of the fitting, so the front stays clean and uncluttered. Against brick, render or dark cladding it reads as a quiet, tidy fitting.
How It Works
A passive infrared sensor picks up movement and switches the light on. Two dials on the unit set how long it stays on, from 8 seconds up to 35 minutes, and the twilight level it responds to, from 2 to 2000 lux. The detection range can be adjusted between 3 and 10 metres, and the sensor head tilts through 90 degrees to point the detection zone where you need it. The ideal mounting height is 2 metres, within a range of 1.8 to 3 metres. It runs from a 230 to 240V mains supply and is a Class II fitting. The lamp is not included, so you will need an E27 lamp of your choice, up to 60W. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.
Where It Works Best
Steinel suggests it for a front door, all round the building, a terrace or balcony, and a courtyard or driveway. It mounts on a wall with surface wiring, and it is rated IP44, so it is protected against splashing water from any direction.
