Steinel L 1 Wall Light with house number and PIR - Impact Resistant - White

A Sensor Wall Light That Doubles as a House Number

The Steinel L 1 in white is an outdoor wall light with a built in motion sensor and a house number panel. It switches on when someone approaches and off again after a time you set. The sensor covers 180 degrees with a reach of up to 10 metres, which makes it a practical outdoor security light for a front door or building entrance. A sheet of self adhesive house numbers is included.

White Finish with an Opal Diffuser

The housing and sensor head are white plastic, with an opal diffuser that glows softly and shows the number you apply to it. Steinel describes the fitting as impact resistant, and it is rated IK07. Because the numbers are lit from behind, the address stays readable after dark. The body is slim and upright, so it sits neatly beside a door.

How It Works

A passive infrared sensor detects movement and switches the light on. You set the time it stays on, from 8 seconds to 35 minutes, and the twilight level it responds to, from 2 to 2000 lux, using the dials on the unit. The sensor works at a mounting height of 1.8 to 3 metres, with 2 metres ideal. The fitting takes one E27 lamp, up to 60W, and the lamp is not included. It runs from a 230 to 240V, 50Hz mains supply and is a Class II fitting, wired from a surface mounted supply. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where It Works Best

Steinel suggests it for the front door, all round the building, a courtyard or a driveway. Fitted beside an entrance, it lights the doorstep and shows your house number to visitors and delivery drivers. It is rated IP44, so it is protected against splashing water from any direction.
