A Wall Sensor That Sees Round the Corner

The Steinel IS 240 DUO in white is an infrared motion sensor that switches a connected light on when it detects movement. It is not a light itself. Two infrared sensors give it a 240 degree detection angle with a reach of up to 12 metres, so it suits a wall or corner where you want to catch movement from several directions. It works indoors and outdoors, which makes it a flexible choice for a security light or entrance light.

White Finish with a Corner Bracket

The housing is white with a clear faceted dome over the sensor, and the Steinel logo sits on the front. A corner mounting bracket is shown with this model, so it can be fixed to a flat wall or an external corner. The white version blends in with white render, painted walls and white cladding.

How It Works

Two passive infrared sensors detect movement and switch your light on. You set the time it stays on, from 10 seconds to 15 minutes, and the twilight level it responds to, from 2 to 2000 lux, using the dials on the unit. Steinel says the detection zone can be customised with shrouds, so you can block out areas you do not want to trigger it. The sensor works at a mounting height of 1.8 to 4 metres, with 2 metres ideal. It runs from a 230 to 240V mains supply and is a Class II product. Where It Works Best

Steinel suggests it for all round the building: front doors, terraces and balconies, courtyards and driveways, on a wall or corner with surface wiring. It is rated IP54, so it is protected against dust and splashing water from any direction.
