Steinel IS 130-2 with PIR - White

A Motion Sensor for Lights Around the Building

The Steinel IS 130-2 in white is a passive infrared motion detector that switches a connected light on when someone approaches. It is a sensor, not a light, so you wire it to the lighting you want it to control. It covers 130 degrees with a reach of up to 12 metres, and it works indoors and outdoors, which makes it a practical way to add automatic security lighting to a front door, driveway or courtyard.

White Housing with a Swivelling Sensor Head

The housing is a compact white block with the Steinel logo on the front, and a frosted white lens below it that holds the sensor. The head turns through 50 degrees and tilts through 90 degrees, so you can aim the detection zone at the path or doorway you want to cover. White blends in on a white or light rendered wall, and the unit is small at 87mm x 78mm x 110mm.

How It Works

The sensor picks up the heat of a person moving across its field of view and switches the connected light on. Two potentiometer dials on the unit set how long the light stays on, from 8 seconds to 35 minutes, and the twilight level it responds to, from 2 to 2000 lux. Detection is strongest when someone crosses the beam, with a reach of up to 12 metres across it and around 3 metres when walking straight towards the sensor. The best mounting height is 1.8 to 3 metres, with 2 metres ideal. It switches loads up to 600W and runs from a 230 to 240V, 50Hz mains supply, connected by cable with surface wiring. It is rated IP54, so it is protected against splashing water from any direction. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this product.

Where It Works Best

Steinel suggests it for all round the building: front doors, terraces and balconies, courtyards and driveways. It mounts on a wall with surface wiring.
