The Pathlight 40 keeps things close to the ground, a low flattened block of rusted steel built to throw light sideways rather than draw attention to itself. It is a quiet fixture that does its job at ankle height and lets the garden around it stay the focus.

Where It Sits in the Rusty Family

This is the shorter of the two Pathlight shapes at 40cm, and unlike its 70cm sibling it uses a GX53 socket rather than a built in LED, so you supply and can later swap the lamp yourself. It shares its flat, directional character with the Pathlight 70 while sitting apart from the round and square Rusty bollards elsewhere in the collection.

How It Works

The body is FeCSi steel, given a controlled chemical treatment by SLV that produces a genuine rust surface which then protects the metal beneath from further corrosion. It takes a GX53 lamp up to 9W, not included, and is rated IP44, a lower ingress protection figure than most of its taller siblings, reflecting its low profile, close to ground design. It runs from a 230V supply.

Where It Works Best

Its low, sideways throw suits it to lining a path where you want to see the ground itself lit rather than a row of visible fixtures, or tucking along the base of a raised bed or low wall.
