Two Tiers, Not One

The Soap 6 DT takes a different approach to the rest of the Soap family. Instead of arranging its six globes around a single ring, it splits them across two tiers, one set higher and one lower, on a compact geometric brass frame. The result has real depth when you look up at it, rather than the flatter spread of a single tier chandelier, and at a squarish footprint of around 117cm by 117cm it suits rooms where a wide single tier fitting would not sit as comfortably.

Transparent Glass Across Two Heights

Every globe on the Soap 6 DT is mouth blown clear glass, so the bulb is fully visible rather than diffused. Because the globes sit at two different levels, they catch light differently depending on where you stand. The upper tier catches ambient light from above, the lower tier catches it more directly from the side, giving the cluster a layered, three dimensional quality that a single row of globes does not have.

Choose Your Finish

Available in Black Gunmetal, Lacquered Burnished Brass, or Polished Nickel, hand applied in Poland. Because the DT's lattice frame is more visible than on the simpler Soap chandeliers, the finish plays a bigger part here. Black Gunmetal turns the geometric structure into a dark outline behind the glass, Lacquered Burnished Brass gives it a warmer, more traditional look, and Polished Nickel makes the lattice itself part of the display.

How It Works

Fitted with 6 x G4 LED bulbs, 1.6W each, on a low voltage supply, with a 2700K warm white colour temperature. The frame spans approximately 117cm by 117cm, and with the three included extension rods, 15cm, 30cm and 45cm, the overall height can be adjusted from around 87cm up to approximately 177cm. Each glass globe measures roughly 25cm in diameter, and the complete fitting weighs approximately 17kg. It is dimmable with a compatible switch. Lead time is approximately 4 to 5 weeks, since every fitting is made to order at the Namyslow workshop.

Where It Works Best

The two tier structure gives the Soap 6 DT more presence from below than a flat cluster of the same size, which makes it a good match for a dining room where the fitting is seen from multiple seated positions, a kitchen island with good ceiling height, or a stairwell where the extra vertical depth can be appreciated as you move past it at different levels.

Made by Schwung

Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. Every fitting is made to order in solid brass and mouth blown glass at their own workshop. The DT designation marks it out as a double tier variant within the Soap range, built on the same hand blown glass globes as the rest of the family but arranged with more vertical structure.
