Schwung Pulsar 200mm Wall Sconce Light

The Pulsar is one of the more minimal pieces in the Schwung range — a wall sconce pared back to its essential elements, where the quality of the making is the whole point. Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namysłów, Poland by Belgian Dominique Sente and Dutch Rudi Nijssen, and every fitting they produce is made to order in solid brass and hand-blown glass. The collectors’ instinct that shaped the brand is visible even in a piece this restrained: nothing is arbitrary, nothing is wasted.

The Pulsar 200mm Wall Sconce presents a single hand-blown glass globe on a minimal brass wall mount. At 200mm (approximately 8 inches) in diameter, the globe has a comfortable, mid-weight presence on a wall — noticeable without being imposing. Available with opal matte or marble matte glass, and with a frame in lacquered burnished brass, polished nickel or black gunmetal. The marble matte glass carries a swirling veined effect within the frosted surface, giving this version a subtle visual richness that the opal version does not have.

Both glass options diffuse the light source completely, producing a warm, soft glow that is gentle and even. The 200mm scale creates a focused pool of light on the wall around it — intimate and precise rather than broadly ambient.

The Pulsar 200mm suits a bedside wall, a bathroom, a dressing room or a narrow hallway where a compact, refined fitting is needed. It is small enough to use in pairs at close quarters, and works well grouped in multiples along a corridor or staircase wall.

A few things worth knowing before you order:

• Brass frames are best cared for with a soft cloth or duster. A damp cloth works too — just make sure everything is completely dry before switching back on. Avoid cleaning agents on brass parts.
• Glass globes should be cleaned with a soft dry cloth on the outside only. For stubborn marks, a damp cloth will do the job. A gentle glass cleaner can tackle grease.
• All Schwung fittings are made to order and are non-returnable.
• Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
