The Pulsar 150mm is the smallest wall sconce in Schwung's Pulsar family, a single hand blown glass globe held on a compact brass backplate. At 150mm across it is built for close quarters, a fitting that reads as a considered detail on a wall rather than a statement in its own right.

Choose Your Finish

The globe comes in three glass options. Opal matte glass diffuses the light fully for a soft, even glow with no visible filament or hotspot. Marble matte glass carries a softly veined, milky internal pattern, unique to each piece from the blowing process, that adds a layer of movement to the light. Dries glass is drawn with fine glass threads across its surface, breaking the light into delicate, intricate shadows rather than a flat wash, the most artisanal of the three. The frame beneath the globe is available in lacquered burnished brass, polished nickel or black gunmetal, so the metal can be matched to existing fittings or handles nearby.

How It Works

The Pulsar 150mm takes a single E14/E12 LED bulb, 5W, included, at 2700K warm white and producing around 450 to 500 lumens. It is dimmable, but only with an electronic dimmer such as an ELV or trailing edge type, not a standard leading edge dimmer. The fitting measures 150mm high and wide with a projection of around 167mm from the wall, on a 150mm diameter backplate 13mm deep, and weighs approximately 1kg. It is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms only.

Where It Works Best

At this scale the Pulsar 150mm works well wherever a larger fitting would feel out of proportion: a narrow hallway, a dressing area, either side of a bedroom mirror, or along a staircase wall where the fitting needs to sit within the line of the handrail. It also reads well used in multiples, three or four spaced along a corridor wall for a measured, repeated rhythm that a single larger fitting could not create.

Made by Schwung

Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. According to Schwung, every fitting is made to order in solid brass and mouth blown glass at the Namyslow workshop, and at this smaller scale, that same hand finishing goes into a globe a fraction of the size of the largest Pulsar, with no shortcuts taken for the reduction.
