Six Veined Glass Globes in Two Sizes
The Schwung Orion Mix 6 Light Chandelier/Flush in Marble Glass sets three 200mm and three 150mm mouth blown globes around a brass hub, and each globe carries the faint cloudy veining of Schwung's marble matte glass. Unlit, the globes look like pale stone; lit, the veins show as shifting shadows inside a warm glow. The fitting hangs as a small chandelier on its rods or sits close to the ceiling as a flush light. It measures 603mm across and can drop from 288mm to around 1270mm, so check your ceiling height before you order.
Marble Matte Glass and Your Choice of Finish
Marble matte glass is soda lime glass with a milky body and soft internal veining that forms during blowing, so no two globes are identical and the six on one fitting will each have their own pattern. It gives a little more depth and movement than plain opal glass while still hiding the bulb. The frame is finished in one of three ways:
- Lacquered Burnished Brass, a warm aged brass under lacquer that picks up the cream tones in the glass
- Black Gunmetal, a near black that sharpens the contrast with the pale globes
- Polished Nickel, a cool bright silver for a cleaner, more contemporary look
Both the glass veining and the hand applied finishes vary from piece to piece, and colour on screen is a guide only.
How It Works
Two Globe Sizes
The larger 200mm and smaller 150mm globes alternate around the central hub, which gives the Orion Mix a more relaxed outline than Schwung's regular Orion rings where every globe matches.
Chandelier or Flush
The fitting is supplied with three extension rods, 150mm, 300mm and 450mm, and a 140mm canopy that works on vaulted ceilings. Fixed directly to the ceiling the body is 288mm deep; on the rods it hangs at around 436mm, 736mm or 1186mm, or approximately 530mm, 820mm and 1270mm with the vaulted ceiling canopy.
Light Output
Six E14 LED bulbs of 4 to 5W are included, producing around 1320 lumens at a warm 2200K to 3000K. E14 lamps up to 10W can be fitted as replacements. Dimming is with electronic ELV or trailing edge dimmers only.

Where It Works Best
The marble glass version suits rooms where there is already natural material to talk to: a stone topped dining table, a marble kitchen island, oak or walnut joinery. Hung low over a table the veined globes become something to look at as well as to see by. Flush mounted it brings a little texture to a bedroom or hallway ceiling without the hard sparkle of clear glass.

Schwung's marble matte glass is one of the three signature glass types the brand developed for its Globe collection, alongside opal matte and Dries ribbon glass. The company was founded by Rudi Nijssen, a former antiques dealer, and Dominique Sente, a former goldsmith, and blows its glass and finishes its solid brass by hand in its own workshop in Poland.

Questions People Ask
Will the marble pattern on my globes match the photographs?
No two marble matte globes are the same. The veining forms as the glass is blown, so each of the six globes will have its own pattern and none will exactly match a photograph.
How big is the Orion Mix and how low does it hang?
It is 603mm across and 7kg. Fixed directly to the ceiling it is 288mm deep; with the included rods it hangs at roughly 436mm, 736mm or 1186mm, slightly more on a vaulted ceiling canopy.
Can I use it as a flush light?
Yes. Without the rods the body sits 288mm below the ceiling and Schwung lists it as both a flush mount and a chandelier.
Are the bulbs included?
Yes. Six E14 LED bulbs of 4 to 5W are supplied, and they can be replaced with E14 lamps up to 10W each.
What kind of dimmer does it need?
An electronic ELV or trailing edge dimmer. Schwung states other types should not be used.
Does it need professional installation?
