The Orion 6 Light is built around a simple idea executed well: six brass arms radiating from a central point, each holding a glass globe, designed to work equally as a ceiling flush light or a wall sconce. In Opal Mat glass, it is the most understated and adaptable version of the design, suited to rooms that need warm, even light rather than a strong visual statement.

In Opal Mat Glass

Opal Mat is a fully diffusing glass, meaning the bulb inside each globe disappears completely and the whole sphere glows evenly from every angle. There are no hotspots, no visible filament, just a soft even light. Across six globes arranged radially, this produces a calm, glareless spread of light that works whether the fitting is switched on as a feature or left as ambient background lighting.

Choose Your Finish

Choose from Black Gunmetal for a dark, contemporary frame, Lacquered Burnished Brass for a warmer traditional look, or Polished Nickel for a brighter, cooler tone. All three are hand finished at Schwung's workshop in Poland and pair equally well with the soft Opal Mat glass.

How It Works

Each of the six arms holds an E14 socket taking a 5W LED bulb, included as standard, running at 2700K for roughly 3000 lumens combined and compatible with ELV or trailing edge dimmers. The fitting measures 35.7cm wide, 84.6cm high and 24.6cm deep when wall mounted, with individual globes 15cm across and a weight of approximately 6kg. No IP rating is published for this fitting, so treat it as suitable for dry indoor rooms only. It fixes flat to a ceiling for a flush mount or directly to a wall for a sconce, sharing the same fixing hardware either way.

Where It Works Best

Flush to a ceiling, this suits a bedroom, a low hallway, or a kitchen where an even wash of light is more useful than a dramatic drop fitting. As a wall sconce, the Opal Mat version works well flanking a bed or in a living room where a softer glow is wanted rather than a conversation piece.

Made by Schwung

Founded in 2014 in Namysłów, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen, Schwung builds every fitting to order from solid brass and hand blown glass. Opal Mat is, according to Schwung, the most versatile and liveable of its three signature glass finishes, chosen deliberately for fittings meant to blend into daily life rather than dominate a room.
