The Most Compact Fitting in the Odyssey Family

The Odyssey Small pairs a single opal mat glass globe with a neat brass arm, and it is the smallest, most understated sconce in the Odyssey range. Where some of the larger Odyssey pieces make a real statement on a wall, the Small is built for rooms where a quieter point of light is what's needed, without losing any of the considered detailing that runs through the rest of the family.

Choose Your Finish

Three brass finishes are available. Black Gunmetal gives the arm a dark, almost graphite tone that recedes against a painted wall. Lacquered Burnished Brass has a warmer, honeyed cast that will deepen slightly with age. Polished Nickel is the brightest and most reflective option, a good pairing with chrome fittings and mirrored surfaces. Whichever finish you choose, the opal mat glass globe stays the same, mouth blown and acid etched on the outside to give it its soft, frosted surface.

How It Works

The Small takes a single E14/E12, G45 shaped LED bulb, supplied in the box at 5W and producing 450 to 500 lumens of warm white 3000K light. Maximum bulb wattage is 15W, and the fitting is dimmable only with compatible electronic dimmers (ELV or trailing edge types). It is IP20 rated, for dry indoor rooms only. The glass globe measures approximately 150mm in height by 100mm in diameter, and the complete fitting measures around 230mm in height by 105mm in width, projecting 142mm from the wall. It weighs approximately 1.9kg complete.

Where It Works Best

Its small scale makes the Odyssey Small a natural fit for tight hallways, narrow landings, or either side of a bed as a pair of gentle reading lights. It also suits a dressing room or a home office corner, anywhere a quiet, non intrusive point of light is more useful than an overhead fitting.

Made by Schwung

Founded in 2014 by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen, Schwung makes every fitting to order at its workshop in Namyslow, Poland. The opal mat glass used on the Small is, according to Schwung, mouth blown in cast iron moulds, a process that gives each globe small variations that set it apart from a mass produced equivalent.

Is the Odyssey Small suitable for a bathroom?
No, it's IP20 rated, which limits it to dry indoor rooms. It isn't intended for bathroom use.
