Ten opal mat glass globes radiate from a central brass hub in the Odyssey Round Large, the biggest of Schwung's circular chandeliers and a fitting that asks for a room with the ceiling height and floor space to let it breathe. Where the smaller Round versions are quietly proportionate, this one is unapologetically a centrepiece.

Choose Your Finish

The brass hub and spokes are available in lacquered burnished brass, black gunmetal, or polished nickel, hand finished in Poland. Each of the ten opal mat glass globes is individually mouth blown into a cast iron mould, and at this diameter the brass structure itself needs precise engineering to keep every globe evenly balanced around the ring.

How It Works

The chandelier takes ten 5W E14 LED bulbs, included, at 3000K, and is dimmable. It measures approximately 152cm in diameter, with the height adjustable between roughly 41.6cm and 131.6cm using the included extension rods, and each glass globe measures around 10cm in diameter and 30cm in height. The fitting weighs approximately 26.2kg. No IP rating is published for this fixture, so it should be treated as suitable for dry indoor rooms only.

This is the scale for a large square or circular dining room, a round table that seats eight to ten, or an open plan kitchen and living space where it can anchor one zone of the room on its own. It also suits a principal bedroom with generous ceiling height, where ten softly glowing globes above a bed create a considerable sense of occasion.

Made by Schwung

Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. Every fitting is made to order in solid brass and mouth blown glass at the Namyslow workshop, and the Round Large sits at the top of the Round range, among the more ambitious pieces the studio produces given the precision needed to engineer a brass ring of this size.
