A Special Edition Odyssey in Forest Green

The Odyssey Galloway takes the same brass arm and opal matte glass globe as the rest of the Odyssey family and finishes it in a deep forest green, a colourway that takes its name and tone from the Scottish landscape. It's a limited departure from Schwung's usual brass, nickel and gunmetal finishes, and it brings a genuinely individual note to a wall that a metallic finish wouldn't.

Painted Brass, Opal Matte Glass

Underneath the green paint, the arm and backplate are the same solid brass used across the Odyssey range, hand finished at Schwung's workshop before the forest green coating is applied. The globe is opal matte glass, which diffuses the light into a soft, even glow rather than a directional beam. Because only one finish is offered, the Galloway reads as a more considered, collectible piece rather than a standard catalogue option.

How It Works

The Galloway takes a single E14/E12, G45 shaped LED bulb (maximum length 80mm), supplied at 4W and producing around 220 lumens. Colour temperature is switchable between 2200K and 3000K, so you can choose a warmer or slightly cooler white depending on the room. Maximum bulb wattage is 15W, and it's dimmable only with compatible electronic dimmers (ELV or trailing edge types). It's rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms only. The glass globe measures approximately 225mm in height by 100mm in diameter, and the complete fitting measures around 305mm in height by 105mm in width, projecting 142mm from the wall. It weighs approximately 2kg.

Where It Works Best

The forest green finish works particularly well in interiors that already lean into colour and pattern, a hallway with a bold wallpaper, a study lined with books, or a bedroom with deep, saturated walls where a metallic sconce would look too safe. It also suits more traditional interiors, where the green reads closer to an antique painted finish than a contemporary one.

Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. According to Schwung, special editions like the Galloway are produced in the same made to order process as the rest of the range, with the paint finish added as an extra hand applied step rather than a substitute for the brand's usual brass and glass construction.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?
No, it's IP20 rated, which limits it to dry indoor rooms. It isn't intended for bathroom use.
