Nine Globes, One Considered Cluster

The Odyssey Cluster 9 suspends nine glass globes at varying heights from a single circular brass canopy, letting them settle into an organic, uneven cluster rather than a rigid symmetrical pattern. It is one of the more approachable Schwung chandeliers in scale, generous enough to make a real statement over a table but considered enough not to dominate a room that has other things going on in it.

In Opal Mat Glass

Each globe is soda lime triplex opal glass, acid etched on the outside, so the light diffuses fully and evenly rather than showing the bulb through the surface. The effect is a soft, warm glow from every globe rather than nine separate points of glare, which makes the cluster as pleasant to sit under as it is to look up at.

Choose Your Finish

The canopy and rods are available in Black Gunmetal, Lacquered Burnished Brass or Polished Nickel. Black Gunmetal keeps the nine opal globes as the visual focus, Lacquered Burnished Brass adds warmth to the brass fittings between them, and Polished Nickel gives the cluster a cooler, more reflective frame.

How It Works

The Odyssey Cluster 9 takes 9 x E14, 5W LED bulbs, included, at 3000K warm white and around 4050 to 4500 lumens combined. It is dimmable, but only with an electronic dimmer switch, and is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms. The canopy measures 382mm across, and the drop is adjustable from 927mm to 3300mm, so the cluster can be hung close to the ceiling or lowered well over a table. Each globe measures 300mm in height and 100mm in diameter, and the fitting weighs approximately 15kg in total.

Where It Works Best

The Cluster 9 is at its best centred over a dining table, in a stairwell with some height to play with, or in an entrance hall where its varying drop lengths can be appreciated from more than one angle. Its irregular hang gives it presence without needing the largest room in the house.

Made by Schwung

Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. According to Schwung, every fitting is made to order in solid brass and mouth blown glass at the Namyslow workshop, and the nine globes on this piece are hung individually so that no two Cluster 9 chandeliers settle in quite the same arrangement.
