Five Points of Light From One Compact Starburst

The Molecule Spark 5 gathers five glass hemispheres on slender brass rods that fan out from a central nucleus, forming a tight starburst that works equally well recessed close to the ceiling or projecting from a wall. It is the smallest fitting in the Spark family, sized for rooms and landings where the full Spark Round chandeliers would be too much, without losing any of the sculptural detail that makes the range recognisable.

In Transparent Glass

In transparent glass, the brass rods and fixings stay visible through each hemisphere instead of disappearing behind frosted surfaces. Light passes through with very little diffusion, so the fitting reads as a cluster of small, distinct lanterns rather than one soft glow. It suits spaces where the fixture is meant to be seen clearly, day or night, rather than fade into the background once switched off.

Choose Your Finish

The frame comes in Black Gunmetal or Lacquered Burnished Brass. Black Gunmetal keeps attention on the five transparent globes, with the dark metal sitting quietly behind them. Lacquered Burnished Brass brings warmth from the frame itself, so the rods and nucleus catch the light between the globes as much as the glass does.

How It Works

The Molecule Spark 5 takes 5 x E27, 5W LED bulbs, included, at 2700K warm white and around 2250 to 2500 lumens combined. It is dimmable, but only with an electronic dimmer switch, and is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms. It can be fitted flush to the ceiling or mounted to a wall using the same fixing plate, with no adjustable drop either way. The fitting spans approximately 1070mm at its widest point and 924mm at its narrowest, projects around 283mm, and weighs approximately 5kg.

Where It Works Best

At this size, the Spark 5 suits a landing, hallway, or smaller bedroom ceiling where a full chandelier would overwhelm the space, or a wall either side of a bed, mirror or piece of art where its starburst shape can be appreciated up close. It gives a room a genuine focal point without needing the ceiling height a larger Spark demands.

Made by Schwung

Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. According to Schwung, every fitting is made to order in solid brass and mouth blown glass at the Namyslow workshop, with each of the five globes here fixed to its own brass rod by hand.
