An Adjustable Arm, Brought to Desk Scale

A single transparent glass globe sits at the end of an articulated brass arm, rising from a weighted base that keeps the whole assembly stable even at full extension. The Milan table lamp takes the same brass and glass vocabulary as its floor standing relatives and translates it into a genuinely useful task light, one where the arm can be drawn out and angled to put light exactly where it is wanted rather than fixed in a single position.

Transparent Glass, Filament on Show

The glass globe is mouth blown and left clear, so the LED capsule inside is fully visible rather than diffused behind frosted or opal glass. Switched on, the light is direct and a little theatrical in the way it exposes its own source, switched off, the clear globe and brass arm still read as a considered object on a desk or console.

Choose Your Finish

The Milan table lamp is available with its brass arm and base in Black Gunmetal, Lacquered Burnished Brass, or Polished Nickel, allowing the finish to be matched to other brass or metal fittings already in the room.

How It Works

The lamp takes a single G4 LED capsule bulb (included), rated at a maximum of 1.6W at 12V, producing around 200 lumens at a warm 2700K, dimmable only with electronic ELV or trailing edge dimmers. The clear glass globe measures approximately 20cm in diameter. The lamp stands around 103cm tall at full extension, with the articulated arm reaching out to roughly 85cm from the base, and the base itself is around 26cm wide. Power comes via a 2m cord with an inline on/off switch positioned around 50cm from the base, and a UK plug.

Where It Works Best

A writing desk, a bedside table with room to spare, or a console table where a single adjustable light source is needed rather than ambient room lighting. Because the arm extends and angles, it suits tasks like reading or working at close range better than fittings designed purely for general illumination.

Made by Schwung

Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. The Milan table lamp is made to order in solid brass and mouth blown glass at the brand's Namyslow workshop, sharing its clean geometric language with the larger Milan floor lamps but built around an articulated arm rather than a fixed column.

How far does the arm extend?
The articulated arm reaches out to approximately 85cm from the base, giving enough range to angle light over a desk or reading chair.

Can I use my own bulb instead of the one supplied?
The lamp is designed around its included G4 LED capsule bulb, which sits fully exposed inside the clear glass globe, so it should be replaced like for like rather than substituted with a different bulb type.

Is it suitable for a bedside table?
Yes, though its footprint and reach are generous for a bedside table, it works well, provided there is enough surface space for the base and the arm's extension.
