A milk frosted glass cloche sits over a solid brass base, the two joined by a small brass button that doubles as the lamp's dimmer and switch. It's one of the more distinctive pieces in the Schwung collection, reading as much as a sculptural object as a working table lamp. The frosted glass diffuses the light into something warm and even, without the hard edge of an exposed bulb.

Four Frame Finishes

The Hana Table Lamp comes in Lacquered Burnished Brass, Black Gunmetal, Heritage Bronze or Classic Bronze. The two bronze finishes bring a warmer, slightly more rustic tone than the standard brass or gunmetal, and pair particularly well with wood or ceramic surfaces. Across every finish the glass cloche and the soft diffused light it produces stay the same.

How It Works

Three E14/E12 bulbs are included (4W each), producing 660 lumens with a switchable colour temperature between 2200K and 3000K. The brass button in the base acts as both the on/off switch and a dimmer, so the light level can be set without a separate control. The lamp is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms only, stands 696mm tall on a 220mm diameter base, and weighs 7.7kg.

Where It Works Best

Its height and weight make it more suited to a console table, a sideboard or the floor beside a chair than a small bedside table, though it works there too if the surface is sturdy enough. It suits both contemporary and more traditional interiors, and works well as a single statement lamp rather than as part of a matching pair.

Made by Schwung

Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. According to Schwung, the frosted glass used across the Hana range is hand finished to an even, sandblasted texture, and the same glass cloche used on the flush mount version is reworked here to sit over a substantial brass base rather than a backplate.
