A Quiet, Jewellery Like Fitting

A milk frosted glass cloche sits over a solid brass backplate, held in place by a small brass button that gives the whole fitting a considered, jewellery like finish. The frosted glass produces a soft, even light with none of the glare or hard shadow of an exposed bulb, and the shallow profile means it sits close to the surface it's fixed to. It's one of the few Schwung fittings genuinely designed to work on a ceiling or a wall.

Four Frame Finishes

The Hana Flush Mount comes in Lacquered Burnished Brass, Black Gunmetal, Heritage Bronze or Classic Bronze. The two bronze finishes sit somewhere between the brightness of brass and the darkness of gunmetal, giving a warmer, slightly more rustic option than the standard brass or nickel found elsewhere in the Schwung range. Whichever finish is chosen, the glass cloche and its soft diffused light stay the same.

How It Works

Three E14/E12 bulbs are included (4W each), producing 660 lumens with a switchable colour temperature between 2200K and 3000K. It's dimmable, but only with electronic ELV or trailing edge dimmers. The fitting is rated IP20, so it belongs in dry indoor rooms rather than bathrooms or shower rooms. Fully assembled it measures around 256mm in height and 490mm in diameter, and weighs 3.8kg. Bulbs and the mounting backplate are included in the box.

Where It Works Best

On a ceiling the Hana suits a bedroom, a hallway or a smaller room where a pendant would hang too low. On a wall it works as a considered alternative to a traditional sconce, either as a single fitting or paired either side of a mirror or headboard. Its shallow profile also makes it a sensible choice for rooms with lower ceilings.

Made by Schwung

Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. According to Schwung, the frosted glass used across the Hana range is hand finished to achieve an even, sandblasted texture, which is what gives the light its soft, glare free quality rather than a manufactured diffuser.
