The Schwung Dawn Single wall sconce cradles one transparent glass globe within a distinctive brass frame, set at a slight angle so the light casts forward into the room rather than straight against the wall. The name suits the effect, a single, warm point of light with the quality of early morning, direct without being harsh.

One Globe in Transparent Glass

The globe measures 150mm in diameter, in clear borosilicate glass that leaves the bulb inside fully visible. Held at an angle within its brass frame, the transparent glass casts a warm, direct glow with real clarity, the kind of close range detail that rewards being seen at eye level rather than viewed from below like a ceiling fitting.

Choose Your Finish

The Dawn Single is available with its brass frame in Black Gunmetal, Lacquered Burnished Brass or Polished Nickel. Black Gunmetal gives the frame a dark, jewellery like presence against the wall. Lacquered Burnished Brass keeps a warm, traditional brass tone that suits a hallway or bedroom. Polished Nickel adds a cooler, reflective surface that picks up light from the single glass globe.

How It Works

The globe takes a single 1.6W G4 LED bulb, included, giving a warm 2700K glow at around 180 lumens. The sconce is dimmable, but only with electronic ELV or trailing edge dimmers. It measures 505mm in height, 150mm in width and projects 193mm from the wall, with a circular backplate of 120mm diameter and 38mm depth. The complete fitting weighs 1.9kg. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms and carries CE/UL certification with a 2 year warranty.

Where It Works Best

The Dawn Single suits a hallway or landing, where a single well placed point of light does more than a spread of ambient illumination, or a bedroom, flanking a bed or beside a dressing table. Its jewellery like scale rewards close range viewing, making it better suited to a considered, intimate setting than a large open room.

Made by Schwung

Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. Every Dawn sconce is made to order in solid brass and hand blown glass at the Namyslow workshop. According to Schwung, the angled frame that gives the Dawn its name was designed specifically to direct light forward into a room rather than flatten it against the wall.
