A Single Light Built Like a Small Sculpture
The Schwung Babylon Single Wall Sconce Light is the most pared back piece in the Babylon collection. A polished marble sphere sits low on the wall, a slim brass spine rises from it, and at the top a stack of brass discs forms a cup shaped shade around one warm LED bulb.
Marble and Brass Finish Options
Each sconce pairs a brass finish with a matching natural marble:
- Classic Bronze and Rosso Levanto
- Mahogany Brass and Calacatta Viola
- Tarnished Silver Brass and Calacatta Black
- Vintage Brass and Verde Alpi
Because the sphere is cut from real stone, its veining and colour will differ slightly from one sconce to the next and from the photos.
How It Works
Wall Mounting
The sconce fixes directly to the wall, and Schwung's own photography shows it fitted both ways up: with the light rising above the marble sphere to wash the wall upward, or turned over so the shade faces down and pools light below.
Light Output
One included 4W LED bulb (around 15W halogen equivalent) gives 220 lumens at a warm 2200 to 3000K, which makes it an accent and mood light rather than a main light source.
Where It Works Best
At 163mm deep and 125mm wide, it fits narrow spots where a larger sconce would crowd the space: beside a bed, either side of a mirror or artwork, along a hallway, or as a pair flanking a doorway. It also adds a soft layer of background light to living rooms, kitchens and dining rooms.
Made By Schwung
Schwung was started by Rudi Nijssen, who dealt in antiques, and Dominique Sente, who trained as a goldsmith. The studio designs every fitting in house and has it made in Poland from solid brass paired with glass or stone, with each piece hand finished before it ships.

Is the Babylon Single bright enough to light a room on its own?
No. With one 4W LED bulb giving 220 lumens, the Babylon Single Wall Sconce is designed as accent lighting and works best alongside a ceiling light or lamps.
Is the marble real stone?
Yes. Each Babylon Single Wall Sconce uses a natural marble sphere in Rosso Levanto, Calacatta Viola, Calacatta Black or Verde Alpi, so the pattern is unique to every piece.
Can it go in a bathroom?
No. The Babylon Single Wall Sconce is rated IP20, so it isn't protected against moisture and shouldn't be fitted in a bathroom's electrical zones.
