Schwung's Most Compact, Quietly Confident Sconce

The Adrion Small is the smallest fitting in the range, and one of Schwung's most restrained designs. A single glass globe sits into a long oval brass backplate, the globe appearing cradled by the plate rather than projected from it. At 230mm tall it has a graphic, almost architectural presence that is quite different from a conventional arm and shade wall light, and its small footprint makes it easy to place in spaces where a larger sconce would not fit.

Choose Your Finish

The Adrion Small is made to order in three hand blown glass types and three brass frame finishes, giving nine combinations. Opal Matte glass diffuses the light evenly for a soft, glareless glow and is the most versatile choice for most rooms. Marble Matte glass has a subtle, milky veined pattern running through it that adds depth to the light. Dries Ribbon glass is drawn into fine threads as it is blown, refracting light into delicate shadows for the most artisanal look of the three. Frames come in Lacquered Burnished Brass for warmth, Black Gunmetal for a darker, more contemporary tone, or Polished Nickel for a cooler finish.

How It Works

The Adrion Small takes a single 5W E14/E12 bulb, included, rated up to a maximum of 10W and producing 450 to 500 lumens at a warm 2700K. It is compatible with electronic dimmers only (ELV or trailing edge). It has an IP20 rating, suiting dry indoor rooms. The backplate measures 230mm high by 105mm wide, the glass globe within it is 150mm in diameter, and the fitting projects 161mm off the wall. It weighs 1.4kg and wires directly to the mains.

Where It Works Best

Its compact scale makes the Adrion Small well suited to narrower walls, corridors, and as a run of several fittings along a hallway. It is also a practical choice for a smaller bedroom where a Medium or Large sconce would crowd the wall.

Made by Schwung

Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. According to Schwung, every Adrion Small is made to order at the Namyslow workshop in solid brass with a mouth blown glass globe, so each one carries small natural variations that come from being hand made rather than moulded.
