The Adrion at Its Most Versatile Size

The Adrion Medium is the size most people choose, and it is easy to see why. The long oval brass backplate and the glass globe set into it strike a scale that is substantial enough to anchor a wall on its own, yet contained enough to work well in a pair either side of a mirror, bed or fireplace. At 305mm tall, it sits between the compact Small and the more commanding Large, giving it the flexibility to suit almost any room in the house.

Choose Your Finish

The Adrion Medium is made to order in three hand blown glass types and three brass frame finishes, for nine combinations in total. Opal Matte glass diffuses light fully for a warm, even glow and is the most liveable option for daily use. Marble Matte glass carries a softly veined, milky pattern within the glass that adds visual depth and shifts the light it throws. Dries Ribbon glass is drawn into fine threads while still molten, refracting light into intricate shadows and giving it the most artisanal character of the three. The frame comes in Lacquered Burnished Brass for a warm, aged tone, Black Gunmetal for a darker, more graphic look, or Polished Nickel for a cooler, brighter finish.

How It Works

The Adrion Medium takes a single 5W E14/E12 bulb, included, rated to a maximum of 10W and giving out 450 to 500 lumens at a warm 2700K colour temperature. It works with electronic dimmers only (ELV or trailing edge), not standard leading edge dimmers. It carries an IP20 rating, suiting dry indoor rooms. The oval backplate measures 305mm high by 105mm wide, the glass globe set within it is 150mm in diameter, and the whole fitting projects 161mm from the wall. It weighs 1.8kg and is wired to the mains.

Where It Works Best

Because it works equally well solo or in pairs, the Adrion Medium suits bedside walls either side of a bed, hallway walls, and living rooms where a softer, more sculptural alternative to a table lamp is wanted. It is the size to reach for when you are not sure whether Large or Small is right.

Made by Schwung

Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. According to Schwung, the Adrion is made to order at the Namyslow workshop from solid brass and mouth blown glass, a process that means small variations in the glass are part of the finish rather than a flaw.
