The Bigger Hexagon
Four candle bulbs stand inside the widest cage in the Vanguard range, a hexagonal steel frame that hangs on a long rod and reads as substantial without ever feeling heavy, since the open sides let you see straight through it. It is built for a room that needs a proper centrepiece over a table.
The Old Black Finish
Finished in Old Black, the steel has a mottled, textured surface rather than a flat single tone, patches of grey worked through the black across every facet of the cage. There is one finish on this listing, and the photographs show it under both studio and warmer light.
How It Works
Four E14 bulbs are not included and sit on candle style arms at the base of the frame. It is dimmable when fitted with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch. As a Class I fitting it requires an earth connection, so installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician. Like the smaller Vanguard pendant, the drop rod is designed to shorten for a semi flush fit where ceiling height is limited.
Where It Works Best
At 51.2cm across, this is the largest fitting in the Vanguard collection and the one to pick for a big dining table, an open plan kitchen island, or a double height stairwell. The three light pendant is a noticeably smaller 40.6cm and suits a more modest table, while the two light wall version drops the pendant format altogether for wall mounting either side of a doorway or mirror.
From New York To The Low Country
Quoizel spent its first decades in New York before relocating headquarters, manufacturing and distribution to a 305,000 square foot facility near Charleston, South Carolina in 1996, where the company still operates today. That move brought a slower, more southern design sensibility into the studio, even on a piece as geometric and modern as this one.

Is this much bigger than the three light pendant? Yes, it is over 10cm wider across the frame and carries a fourth candle bulb, so it suits a larger table than the three light version.
Will it work over a small dining table? At 51.2cm across it is a substantial piece, better suited to a table that can carry a wide centrepiece rather than a compact two seat setting.
What bulbs does it need? Four E14 candle bulbs, which are not supplied.
