Manhattan After Dark
Gotham takes its cue from the city that never quite dims, the kind of low, warm light that gathers over a table long after the sun's gone. This four light chandelier hangs from a slim chain into a circular frame, four fabric shades set around a ring of polished crystal ball accents. It reads as tailored rather than fussy, more penthouse dining room than country cottage.
Brushed Brass, Warm and Understated
This version is finished in a soft brushed brass with a gentle satin sheen, paired with pale cream fabric drum shades. Quoizel also makes Gotham in Imperial Silver, a brighter polished metal with black shades that show a warm gold lining once lit. Brushed brass sits quieter in a room and tends to suit spaces where the other metalwork, door furniture or picture frames, is already on the warmer side.
How It Works
Four G9 lamps sit inside the ring, each rated at 3.5W, and bulbs are not supplied so you will need to source your own. It is dimmable provided you fit dimmable G9 bulbs, though the dimmer switch itself is something your electrician will need to specify separately. The fitting is wired to Class I, meaning it requires an earth connection, and as a hardwired ceiling fitting rather than a plug in lamp, it should be installed by a qualified electrician.
Where It Works Best
At 57.2cm high and 77.5cm across the ring, this is a proper dining table or living room centrepiece rather than a discreet landing light. The chain allows the drop to be set anywhere between 66cm and 187.9cm, so it suits both standard and higher ceilings. If you prefer one large shade to four smaller ones, the Gotham pendant in the same brushed brass finish covers that brief, it is a touch narrower at 58.4cm across.
Quoizel Since 1930
Quoizel began in Manhattan in 1930, founded by Michael Chaikin as a small lamp company. Its first products were not electric at all, they were oil burning hurricane lamps, and one of those early designs, the Abigail Adams lamp, stayed in the catalogue for decades afterwards. As homes electrified, the company moved with them into the hardwired chandeliers, pendants and wall lights that make up ranges like Gotham today. It is still family run, now under the Phillips family, from its base in South Carolina.

Questions People Ask
How does this compare with the Gotham pendant in the same finish? This chandelier has four separate shades on a ring frame. The pendant uses one larger shade under a bell shaped frame and is slightly smaller across, at 58.4cm rather than 77.5cm.
What bulbs does it take? Four G9 bulbs rated up to 3.5W. They are not included, so have these ready before your electrician fits the light.
Can it be dimmed? Yes, as long as the G9 bulbs you fit are themselves dimmable.
