Three Seeded Glass Lamps on a Bowed Bronze Frame
This is the pendant version of Trilogy, built for hanging over a kitchen island or dining table rather than fixed to a ceiling or wall. Three bowed arms in a dark olde bronze finish carry oval seeded glass shades, each with visible texture and tiny trapped bubbles rather than plain clear glass, with the lamp left on show underneath.
The Olde Bronze Finish
The metalwork here is a dark olde bronze rather than the polished chrome used on the flush ceiling versions of Trilogy, giving it a heavier, more rustic character that suits exposed brick, timber or industrial style kitchens. The glass is seeded rather than perfectly clear, catching light unevenly in a way that plain glass does not.
How It Works
Three E27 lamps are needed, not supplied, and the fitting is designed around Edison style filament LEDs that suit the visible bulb design, though any standard E27 LED works. It hangs on chain, which can be shortened to suit your ceiling height, and is Class I, so it must be properly earthed by whoever wires it in. Dimming depends on fitting dimmable lamps and using them with a suitable dimmer.
Where It Works Best
Built for a kitchen island or a dining table, this is a linear three light pendant spreading 96.5cm across, wider than either of the Trilogy flush fittings, and it hangs on chain rather than sitting flush to the ceiling. It is not rated for bathroom or outdoor use, this one is for dry indoor rooms with the ceiling height to take a hanging fitting.
From Oil Lamps to Kitchen Pendants
Quoizel started out making oil burning hurricane lamps in Manhattan in 1930, portable things you carried and lit rather than wired in. As homes were electrified the company moved into hardwired fittings, chandeliers, pendants, sconces and ceiling lights, and a kitchen island pendant like this one is a direct descendant of that shift, built for a permanent electrical circuit rather than a naked flame.
